  • GADGETS & THE DIGITAL WORLD

Devices, Connectivity, Digital Habits & the Future of Work

    Essential Question

Technology was created to save us time. So why do we constantly feel that we have less of it?

    A smartphone can replace:

    a camera • map • calculator • calendar • alarm clock • music player • notebook • wallet • television • scanner • dictionary • navigation system

We can communicate with someone thousands of kilometres away in seconds.

We can work from almost anywhere.

We can store thousands of documents without using paper.

We can access more information than any previous generation.

Yet technology also creates new problems:

distraction • information overload • screen dependency • cybersecurity threats • privacy concerns • constant availability • misinformation • digital fatigue

So the central question is no longer:

    “Do we need technology?”

    It is:

“How can we use technology without allowing technology to control how we work, communicate and spend our attention?”
